Does Your Child Need Extra Support With Maths or Science?

GCSE Maths and Science can become challenging quickly, particularly when students develop gaps in their understanding or lose confidence.

Your child may:

  • understand topics in class but struggle with exam questions

  • have gaps in their Maths or Science knowledge

  • lack confidence in a particular subject

  • find revision overwhelming

  • struggle with exam technique

  • need concepts explained in a different way

  • be working towards a particular GCSE grade

  • benefit from regular structured support

Our aim isn't simply to provide another lesson.

We want students to understand what they're learning, recognise where they need to improve and become more confident applying their knowledge.

Start With a Free GCSE Learning Review

Not every student needs the same support.

Before recommending a programme, we want to understand your child's current position, confidence and goals.

That's why new students can begin with a:

Free GCSE Learning Review

We'll explore:

  • current year group

  • Maths and/or Science support required

  • examination board

  • current working grade, where known

  • target grade

  • areas they find difficult

  • confidence in the subject

  • learning priorities

  • what your child would like to improve

  • what you would like them to achieve through tuition

We'll then recommend the most appropriate next step.

There is no obligation to join following the Learning Review.

Otman's Teaching Approach

Every student learns differently.

Otman's approach focuses on helping students understand concepts rather than simply memorise answers.

Lessons are supportive, interactive and structured around active participation.

Students are encouraged to:

  • ask questions

  • explain their thinking

  • work through problems

  • practise exam-style questions

  • identify mistakes

  • develop problem-solving strategies

  • build confidence over time

Small groups allow Otman to get to know his students and understand where additional explanation or practice may be required.

The aim is not simply to complete more schoolwork.

It is to help students become more confident and independent learners.

Why Small-Group Tuition?

Our GCSE Success groups are deliberately limited to a maximum of 8 students.

This means students aren't simply watching another online lesson.

They can participate.

Small groups allow students to:

✓ Ask questions
✓ Work through problems
✓ Receive feedback
✓ Learn from other students' questions
✓ Practise GCSE exam techniques
✓ Build confidence
✓ Receive more individual attention

Small-group tuition also provides families with a more affordable alternative to weekly 1:1 tuition while retaining regular access to an experienced qualified teacher.

When Do Sessions Take Place?

Our main GCSE Success groups take place after school and during early evenings, typically from 5:00pm onwards.

Rather than publishing a large fixed timetable immediately, groups are created according to:

  • subject

  • year group

  • learning needs

  • examination board where appropriate

  • family availability

  • demand

When you enquire, simply tell us which days and times would work for your child.

As demand grows, additional groups will be introduced.

Prefer Individual Tuition?

1:1 Maths & Science Tuition

Some students benefit from more intensive individual support.

Limited 1:1 online tuition is available for students requiring targeted support with particular topics, significant knowledge gaps or individual examination preparation.

£40 per 60-minute session

Availability is limited.

A-Level Maths & Science Support

We also provide individual academic support for students studying:

  • A-Level Mathematics

  • Biology

  • Chemistry

  • Physics

A-Level support can be tailored around subject knowledge, examination preparation, difficult topics and revision.

Additional Maths & Science Support

One-to-One Tuition

Individual tuition is available for students who would benefit from more personalised or intensive support.

Unlike the GCSE Success small-group programme, 1:1 sessions can be focused entirely around the individual student's priorities.

This may be particularly suitable for students who:

  • have significant gaps in particular topics

  • need intensive support ahead of an assessment or examination

  • are working towards a specific academic target

  • need to revisit foundational knowledge

  • require a different pace of learning

  • would benefit from individual examination-question practice

  • are preparing for a resit

  • need short-term targeted support rather than ongoing group tuition

GCSE Maths & Science — £40 per 60-minute session

A-Level Maths & Science — from £40 per 60-minute session

1:1 availability is limited.

International Academic Support

Individual online Maths and Science tuition is also available for students studying internationally.

Support can be tailored to the student's curriculum, school programme and examination requirements, including:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

  • American curriculum

  • Advanced Placement (AP)

  • British curriculum students studying overseas

International tuition — from £50 per 60-minute session

International enquiries are considered individually so that we can understand the student's curriculum, level, time zone and academic requirements before recommending support.

Targeted School Intervention

Schools and education settings can commission targeted Maths and Science intervention for identified groups of students.

Rather than offering a fixed programme, intervention can be developed around the school's priorities and student data.

This could include support for:

  • students working below their expected or target grade

  • identified curriculum knowledge gaps

  • students requiring additional GCSE preparation

  • students approaching mock examinations

  • particular Maths or Science topics

  • examination technique and question interpretation

  • students requiring additional confidence before examinations

  • targeted A-Level support

Programmes can be delivered as a short, focused intervention or as ongoing academic support.

6–12 Week Intervention Programmes

For schools wanting measurable, time-limited support, a structured 6–12 week intervention programme can be developed around an identified cohort.

A programme could include:

Starting point — agreeing the priority areas, learner group and intended outcomes with the school.

Targeted delivery — regular structured Maths or Science sessions focused on the identified areas.

Progress monitoring — reviewing engagement, understanding and areas requiring further support.

End-of-programme review — providing the school with feedback on delivery, progress and recommended next steps.

This gives schools a defined intervention rather than simply purchasing individual teaching hours.

Exam Booster & Revision Sessions

Schools can also commission focused Maths and Science sessions ahead of mock examinations, GCSEs and A-Levels.

These can be delivered as individual workshops, a short revision series or part of a wider intervention programme.

Sessions can focus on areas such as:

  • high-priority curriculum content

  • frequently misunderstood topics

  • examination-question interpretation

  • applying knowledge to unfamiliar questions

  • problem-solving

  • understanding command words

  • structuring responses

  • avoiding common examination mistakes

  • revision strategies

  • examination confidence

Exam booster sessions can be adapted for smaller targeted groups or larger cohorts depending on the school's requirements.

Ongoing School Partnerships

Where schools require more consistent additional capacity, Synergy STEM Partners can provide ongoing Maths and Science academic support across an academic term or year.

Provision could include:

  • weekly intervention sessions

  • targeted small-group support

  • GCSE revision programmes

  • A-Level academic support

  • examination preparation

  • support for identified learner cohorts

  • additional Maths and Science teaching capacity

  • bespoke programmes aligned with school priorities

We work with the school to ensure additional provision complements existing classroom teaching and responds to identified learner needs.

Flexible Online Delivery

All tuition and academic support is currently delivered live online, allowing students and schools to access provision regardless of location.

For school programmes, delivery arrangements, group sizes, frequency and programme length can be agreed according to the school's requirements.

For individual tuition, sessions are arranged according to availability.

Limited Availability

To maintain the quality and consistency of tuition, the number of individual students and school programmes Otman supports at any one time is deliberately limited.

Where 1:1 availability is full, families can register their interest and join the waiting list.
